Team Uncool Loves: Johannesburg Street Fashion - Str Crd 2011

Khaya Sibiya from Take away.
Str Crd 2011 went down with a bang in the Maboneng Precinct in downtown Johannesburg. The Str Crd festival which has previously been held in Cape Town was brought up to Johannesburg this year, with the help of some of the big street brands which have realised that the Economic Capital holds way more financial possibilities for brands and the street fashion industry.

Everyone from Adidas to Supremebeing where represented at the event. The highlight for me though wasn't the great music of the BlkJks, Mtkidu, Desmond & the Tutu's, Take Away or NY megastar Theophilus London but more the peeps of Johannesburg and the amazing sense of expression they showed through their different styles. It was Heritage day too and lots of guys had mixes of their native traditional clothing mixed in with fresh new contemporary looks.

Without taking some cred away from the amazing Theophilus London  who came out on stage sporting a blinged up South African Rugby Jersey, yeah you heard me right, a South African rugby jersey. He made it look good and its note every day you see a dude from NYC sporting one with so much vigor, he then later changed into a sequin's vest that could have been a mini-shirt on a small girl. Either way, the man is legendary and he killed it performance wise and as he says in his one track, 'The clothing doesn't make the man, the man makes the clothing.'
